Document 1797Debtor Iserloan acknowledges that he is to appear before the Secretary of War but begs Simmons to remember that he is a poor unfortunate man with no friends.

Accountant of the War Department Debtors Apartment 3 27 97 W Simmons Sir You will excuse my liberty in troubling you with my writing I under Stand that I am mos appear before the Jury. Sir I am redey and willen to inform All zI know pray let me know veder I must bring my book tat wrote of with me & not concerning The [illegible] of [illegible[ [illegible]is part against the [illegible] If it is nessary to give it to the Jury. I will carry it with me provided you will please to let Me Know Sir, I am informed I am to goo to the Cremanel apartment from the Jury pray sir as you was my perticeoler freand wo Have brought me hear, pray concedor I am A very onfortnet man non friends and Some of my party boncarned being able men And some freands of thairn wishing that more destious may be added to my misfortune & pray SIR Entersead and kepe me poor destitute fillon from the workhouse Perhaps Provedines may Smile time may be that I have it in my power to to make emends not that you want it. vow Sir your hart to a onfortnet man I am Sinsible of but pray Escuse me. I am all most bewildered and distracted & pray god that Some gintelman may stepe forred and believe a different person.
