Response to the Letter of November 17th
Document 1797Drasney assures Simmons that the letter from the Secretary of War to Colonel Rochefontaine, dated November 15th, should resolve the difficulty discussed in Simmons' letter of November 17th.

Willam Simmons Eqr Accountant of the War Department Philadelphia West Point Decembr 21st 1797 Sir in answer to your letter of the 17th of November which I received only on the 30th of December, (while in my way from Oswego) I refer you to a letter of the secretary of war, to Colonel Rochefontaine of the 15th of november last, which I suppose will remove any Difficulty, I am Sir your most obedt Servant P.
