Accountant's Office December 30. 1797 Sir I received your letter of the 24 Inst. enclosing receipts for Bounties paid by you and a pay roll of yourself & Detachment up to the 10 Instant, the former will be filed in the usual way; as respects the latter I refer you to my letter of the 20 Inst. whereby you will perceive that pay was then remitted for the 30 Ultimo inclusive; when you have sent Muster & pay rolls for the present month they will be acted on, provided the detachment is mustered by a person duly authorized for the purpose by the Secretary of War. Carolina Accountant's Office December 25 1797 Sir I received a letter from M^r Thomas Robeson Deputy Collector of Wilmington of the 19 Inst. enclosing Sundry receipts from Serg^t Philip Williams and the detachment under his command; the amount of which will be passed to your credit on the Books of this Office being three hundred sixty seven dollars & twenty Cents which is 12 Dollars short of the sum stated in M^r Robeson's letter for this latter sum you will be held accountable; the same being for the pay of William P. Johnson for February March & April 1797 which was included in remittance made to you for the pay of the detachment for the above period, and likewise in the remittance made to you 20 July last thirty five dollars & twenty seven Cents & which is included in Serg^t Williams receipts to you for the like sum as administrator.
