Sir
Herewith you will receive vouchers for Monies paid by me to the Scouts or Spies employed on the frontiers of Allegheny County by the United States.
It was not till a late period that I was instructed as to the forms required in your office and a Copy of a rect Roll furnished me for that purpose; to comply as far as possible with this regulation, I collected the persons concerned, gave up the original receipts, and they signed the rect rolls before respectable witnesses. There are one or two instances where this could not be done, the persons having removed to a distance before I knew the measure was necessary, in which case I hope the separate rects will be deemed sufficient.
Exclusive of the within vouchers I lodgd in your office William Wiesthoffs rect for 981 Dls 60 Cts who acted as Paymaster to the Militia of Allegheny County.
I find I am also charged with 532 Dl 19 Cts paid Clement Biddle on the acct. Colo Biddle tells me he paid it to Jno Wilkins Esqr Brigr Genl of our Militia to whom I have wrote to forward to your office the vouchers for its application.
I’ve the honor to be Sir Yr Ob. humble Servt
