December 21 1797 On, looking over your Account on the Books of this Office I find a balance due by you, to The United States of three hundred thirty seven dollars & seventy two Cents which arises principally from the money received by you of Isaac Craig on the 17 October 96 for the Pay of the detachment at Fort Fayette. I request you will immediately transmit the receipt roll of the said detachment that your account may receive a Credit for the same; this is the more requisite in consequence of a request of the House of representatives calling on me to furnish within the first Week in January next a list of those charged with monies at this Office and I am desirous your name Should not appear thereon — expecting your reply Sam^l S^e
