I received yours of the 13 Decr informing me the pay for this Garrison had been forwarded to Mr Dexter at Providence in consequence of which I went there and waited on him and to my disappointment it had not arrived nor indeed has it yet. with this you'll receive the Muster & Pay Rolls for the months of Oct Novr & Decr 1797. I will be obliged to you to have the pay sent on as soon as convenient as the troops have been without pay for six months. I did intend to muster them every three months, but hereafter it will be best to do it every month. Inclosed I have sent a letter for Captn Eaton I must request the favor of you to keep it untill you see him and deliver it yourself as it is a letter I should be sorry I should [undecipherable: d'miss any]
