[undecipherable] Accompanying this I have sent on to your Office a quarterly account current as Agent for the War Department made out for the quarter ending March 30^th 1797. — It is made out as nearly as I could comply with a new form put me in your letter of the 9^th of Feb^y last, if I understood it right. — You are Sensible I suppose that I have no other intimation upon what warrant any draft is made and put me, but a bare mention in the Treasurers letter enclosing the draft, that a warrant N^o. has been issued by the Secretary of War in my favor for — " As the warrant never passes my eye I can only affirm hypothetically respecting it — My letters to your Office and to the Treasurer upon the receipt and payment of every draft together with the receipts sent on in each, I had supposed were sufficient to identify every transaction the account would contain, and when I entered this office I found a form to render only generally for each quarter as for rest transmitted, and that my predecessor had only thus rendered as I did up to December last. — This new form will be found take up much more time, and if the accounts in future are to be rendered according to it, I could wish to know if the account now sent is conformable to it or will be considered for — It has been owing to much & various business in this office that the two accounts have not been furnished before — the remaining ones shall soon be after your reply to this letter — You will see Sir, I am desirous to save what writing can be avoided, but I am ready to discharge all necessary information while I am under their orders.
