Captⁿ Staats Morris Fort Whetstone Point, Baltimore [Accountants Of] December 11. 179[–] Sir I received your letter of the [undecipherable] Instant enclosing the Receipt rolt for October and Muster & pay rolls for November of the detachment under your command you will receive Credit on the Books of this Office for the amount of the former being three hundred Dollars, the amount of the latter you will receive in the usual way from John Kilty, Esq^r Supervisor at Baltimore on your giving him the necessary receipts holding yourself accountable being three hundred & [undecipherable] Dollars and four Cents. you will observe that the Payroll was four Dollars over added, but to counterbalance this, the pay of John Joyce Private mustered present was omitted, which when added we leave the above amount as originally stated by you, notwithstanding that Joyces pay is thus sent only if you know any sufficient reason for withholding it you will do it.
