[98] Cap^t Staats Morris Accountants O[ffice] Fort Whetstone Point Baltimore December 11 179[—] Sir I received your letter of the [—]^th Instant enclosing the Receipt roll for October and Muster & pay rolls for November of the detachment under your command you will receive Recei[—] Books of this Office for the amount of the former being three hundred Dollars, the amount of the latter you will receive in the usual way from John Kilty Esq. Supervisor at Baltimore on your giving him the necessary receipts holding yourself accountable [for] being three hundred [—] Dollars and four Cents, you will observe that the Pay roll was four Dollars over added, but to counterbalance this, the Pay of John Joyce Private mustered present was omitted, which when added we leave the above amount as originally stated by you, notwithstanding that Joyces pay is thus sent out, if you know any sufficient reason for withholding it you will do it.
