[Addressed to: William Simmons Esq^r Accountant War Departm^t Philadelphia] [Endorsed: [undecipherable: Freds?] Frye Dated 2 Dec^r Rec^d — Jany Ans^d — 3.] Governm^t Store Decemb^r 2. 1797 Sir, I have enclosed the Receipt Roll of my Detachment for pay for the Month of October 1797 amounting to three hundred & Ninety Dollars and fifty three Cents, which I am please to pass to my Credit on the Books in your Office.— I have enclosed Muster and pay Rolls for the month of November.— Finding an inconvenience in accommodating Sick Men in the crowded Rooms of the Barrack, I have fixed up a Small out building as an Hospital and have put in, as a Nurse; Sally Vanderwallow (a Soldiers Wife) a decent & faithful woman, and mustered her as such.— I have made her up for four Dollars pr. Month in the pay Roll, having conditioned with her that she should receive no more than that Sum, untill she should have more duties by attending on more Sick than we have lately had.— I am Sir very respectfully your very Humb^t.
