Sir
On more particular examination I find I was erroneous in saying by the last post that Doctor Balfour was never paid by me but for the months of January & February 1796. But I am still right with respect to the 72 dollars for that sum is all that Doctor Balfour has ever returned to me. I presume Dr Martin has advised you of his having settled with me 2329/100 doll. on your account and which I have passed to your credit.
Lieut. Lovell has not yet arrived.
I am Sir, Your very Obt. Serv.
