John Kilty Esq^r Accountants Office Supervisor Baltimore November 23^d 17[—] Sir John Randall at Annapolis stan[ds] Charged on the books of this Office with the sum of 250 dolla[rs] advanced him for the purpose of mounting Artillery at Annap[olis] since which it has been determined to Close as many accounts as possible on the books of this Office either by producing Vouch[ers] for expenditures, or refunding the balance to the Treasurer of th[e] United States. In the present case M^r Randall informs me he is ready to refund the Two hundred and fifty Dollars (hav[ing] expended no part.) I have accordingly directed him to pay the a[mount] to you and take your duplicate Receipt, one of which he is to forw[ard] to this Office; and you will remit the amount to the Treasurer [of] the United States, when the sum will be entered to your Cred[it on] the books of this Office.—— I am &c W.
