Accountants' Office November 22. 1797 Sir I duly received your letters of the 8^t & 18^th Instant, the latter containing two Receipts for Bounty which will be filed in the usual manner until a settlement of your Recruiting account takes place — Before the Pay of yourself and Recruits for October can be transmitted, it will be necessary that you be furnished with instructions from the Secretary of War to muster them; after which you will transmit Muster & Pay Rolls to this Office. Agreeably to your request the following information has been obtained respecting James Hambleton from Major Toussard — He deserted from on board the Frigate where he was on guard the 12^th August last, he was paid up to the 31 July last, inclusive, since when, he has not been made up on the Mud Island Fort Pay Rolls, it appears by Cap^t Mitchells Company Book that he enlisted on the 19^th July 1795 and that previous to June 97 he received one years full Cloathing excepting one Canteen, and in July 1797 he received [Ans^r Simmons Esquire Nov. 22^nd 1797] [Accountants Office [undecipherable: fr?] [signature] R.T.S.] [seal] Ensign William R.
