I am &^c W^m Simmons Cap^t Garrel Cooper Accountants Office Kinderkamac Nov. 12^th 1797 to be left with M^r Garret Hopper Merchant, N^o 79 Partition Street New York Sir I received your letter of the 13^th inst and in answer thereto have to inform you, that you Stand charged with the sum of 614 7/00 dollars, being for the pay of your Company from 14^th Sept. 1794 to 6^th January 1795, which you received from Sam^l Mott Treasurer of the State of New Jersey — Exclusive of the above sum I presume (it being the case with other New Jersey Officers who have already attended to the Settlement of their accounts) that you have received monies from W^m Dayton the State Agent or Rob^t G. Johnson p. m. to the 2^nd Reg^t on % of the pay allowed by the U. States. It may be proper to remark that Presley Nevill, the p. m. g. has refunded the State of New Jersey, the monies paid by her for militia services in 1794. Vouchers shewing the disbursements for monies received for that purpose as also the pay allowed by the United States, you will be pleased to transmit to this Office.
