As you have made a further requisition of money for the use of the recruiting service it is presumable what money you may have received for that object is nearly, if not altogether expended. I have to request you will be pleased to transmit your account with the necessary vouchers, in order that you may have the amount passed to your credit on the books of this Office.

Shortly after my letter to you of the 11th Instant mentioning the transmission by the Treasurer of the United States of the Pay & Subsistence of Ensign Henry Bowyer for July, August & September 1797 it was discovered that his pay was made up in Capt Gibsons Pay roll for the same period, and remitted to you the 20th ultimo; you will therefore be pleased to withold it from him out of the last remittance, paying him in lieu of One hundred and two dollars &100 only twenty seven dollars &100 being the amount of his subsistence for the abovementioned period.
