November 13^th 1797. Sir, on the 5^th of october I sent you an account of 25 Dollars 24 Cents for money that I expended to inlist two men; one of them had been a Deserter for Some time, but has Since returned to his duty & was mustered present on the 9^th of this month —— I herewith Send you the inlistment and receipt of; Bounty of three other men — I Shall thank you to direct the paymaster to Discharge the within account. I beg leave to observe you, that as a lieutenant, Subsisting upon 30 Dollars & a valins a month, it will readily occur to you, that I cannot withoutinconvenience, to myself advance money for public Service, unless it is reimbursed within a Short time.
