I find by a letter to the post Master General who transmitted the answer agreeably to your directions, that it got safe to Savannah [undecipherable: the] the latest night / the latter end of August, and would be forwarded in a few days. I hope from these circumstances that it has got to hand. The information which gave rise to the memorandum presses so much upon my mind that I must again intreat you to use every moral and honest means in your power to put me at ease upon a subject so interesting to the United States. Should unfortunately the information be substantiated you will repair thither as expedi- tiously as possible with the result and without communicating it to any person whatever. I inclose you five hundred dollars in Bank notes of the United States Bank.
