Samuel Hodgdon Philadelphia Springfield Novem^ber 1, 1797 Sir I herewith transmit you a return of work done in the Shop at this Post for the last month I would acquaint you that the Iron I have reciev from Philadelphia will not be sufficient to last til the River opens next Spring and wish you would please to send on the remainder of the promised quantity before it freezes over this fall— the Size of the bars like the last— I could wish considering the loss in the pigs Received and that we have a [undecipherable] hammer to draw them, that there might be no more sent on— If it Should not be convenient to send it on if you will write me I can procure it here I am Sir your most obedient and very humble servant David Ames [Capt.
