Governors Island November 9^th 1797 Sir I have enclosed the Receipt Roll of my Detachment for pay for the Month of September 1797 amounting to Three hundred and forty two Dollars and thirty two Cents, which Sir— Please to pass to my credit in your Office. — I have also enclosed Muster and Pay Rolls for the Month of October. — I have to observe, a mistake was made against Edward Willbe one Dollar in my last Pay Roll, I have, to make good the deficiency made it up in the Pay Roll for October. — I received in May last two hundred Dollars for the Recruiting Service, I have inlisted about twenty three Men the Money is expended. I have not enough to complete their Bounties, I shall probably reinlist some, about to be discharged, or others to fill their places, I wish two or three hundred Dollars may be forwarded to me for that purpose. — Henry Phillips lately a Soldier discharged from Cap^t Patterson's Company, says he has about [undecipherable] Dollars due him arrears of pay, and requested me to assist him in obtaining it. — I have enclosed his Discharge with the Minutes of the amount due him, just as he produced it to me. — If you will please to send [strikethrough: them] amount to [undecipherable] to myself I will forward his Receipt therefore. — Please to return the Discharge.
