I received your letter of the 28th Inst. enclosing receipts for bounty, paid which will be placed with those already received. The receipt roll will be entered to your credit — you have done perfectly right in withholding the pay [strikethrough: of the pay] of the deserters, as it is considered here that their pay is forfeited when they desert, and commences when taken, deducting all expences which have accrued in the apprehending him.
