Extract of a letter from the Secretary of War to Lieut Col. Rochefontaine dated Near Downingstown 22 October 1797 "You will be pleased to send a skilful and attentive Officer to New York to recruit and signify his name to M^r Jones at the Office that recruiting money and instructions may be immediately forwarded to him." A true extract M^r Jones Col.
