The account of Richard Allison, Surgeon General of the army of the United States, (transmitted to the Auditor and [undecipherable] of the [undecipherable: Secretary?] [undecipherable] justed at the Treasury, and the sum of eight hundred and twenty seven dollars and fifty four cents stated to be due to him from the United States; being for sundry purchases made by him, and for the salaries of the store Keeper and Nurses employed at the hospital at Fort Washington, from the 16th of August 1793, to the 25th of August 1795—
Pursuant to your letter above referred to, I transmit enclosed a [undecipherable] from the Register exhibiting the sum so found due to the said Allison, on which you will be pleased to cause such entries to be made in the books of your office in order to credit him with the same, as the case may render necessary.
I avail myself of the present occasion to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 13th instant, and to inform you, that on examination of the books of the Treasury, it does not appear that any monies have been advanced to Joshua [undecipherable line] known from what source Mr Smith derived the funds to satisfy Mr DeSaussure's draught; it will therefore be incumbent on you to obtain through some other channels, the requisite information on that point.
