The vouchers deposited by you in this Office relative to the pay &c of the militia called out to suppress an insurrection in the western counties of Pennsylvania in the year 1794, have undergone an examination, and I have wrote to the different agents and Paymasters acting under your orders on that occasion, to come forward to this Office with the necessary vouchers to exonerate them from the advances stated in your vouchers by the 15th November next, the time mentioned by you as most convenient for yourself to allow for the final settlement of that business, and at which time I will expect your punctual attendance properly prepared for that purpose; you will readily see the necessity of punctuality & dispatch in the business, when I inform you that a resolution passed in Congress on the 8 March last directing me to furnish by the first week in January next, an abstract of the names of all the receivers of public monies unaccounted for — besides this reason, it will frequently occur that explanations on your account will be required by the different paymasters in order to effect their respective settlements, altho some other reasons might be mentioned to shew the necessity of your attendance at that period. I am persuaded no more need be said to you to insure the desired object. I request it may not escape your recollection that you remarked at the foot of the abstract rendered by you — that there were there some other accounts not ready — and that you come
