M^r James Singleton Accountants Office late Captain of a company of & October 17^th 1797 Virginia Militia artillery Sir near Winchestr In an abstract of monies advanced by Presley Nevill Paymaster General to the Militia called out to suppress an insurrection in the western counties of Pennsylvania in the year 1794, you stand charged with [undecipherable] of money received in pursuance of warrants in your fa[undecipherable] being for the pay of a company of Virginia Militia A[undecipherable] commanded by you employed in said expedition; and no vouchers have hitherto been transmitted to this Office exonerate you from those charges I have to request your im- mediate attention in rendering such as you possess or can- [undecipherable] obtain properly stated and in case of any deficiency to re- fund the balance remaining unaccounted for in your [undecipherable] to the Treasurer of the United States. I am under the necessity to be the more ur- gent in requesting your immediate attention to this object in comp- [undecipherable] of a resolution of Congress of the 3 March last wherein I am di- rected to furnish an abstract by the first week in January next of names of all the receivers of public monies unaccounted for.
