You stand charged with money advanced by Chesley Nevill Paymaster General to the Militia, called out to suppress an insurrection that took place in the western counties of Pennsylvania in the year 1794 pursuant to a warrant in your favor for pay of a Troop of Virginia Militia Cavalry commanded by you, employed in said expedition, and as vouchers have hitherto been transmitted to this Office to exonerate you from this advance I have to request your immediate attention in pondering such as you actually possess or speedily procure properly stated, and in case of deficiency to refer the balance unaccounted for in your hands to the Treasurer of the United States. I am the more urgent in requesting your immediate attention to this object in consequence of a resolution of Congress of the 3 March last directing me to furnish an abstract of the names of all the receivers of public money unaccounted for by the first week in January next. — Col. Nevill the Paymaster General has been furnished with directions to attend to the final settlement of all accounts relative to that expedition and is to attend on the 15^th November next for that purpose, before which time I hope your account and vouchers will be regularly furnished and examined at this Office and the amount carried to its proper account in the aforementioned abstract to be before Congress.
