M^r John Colgin Accountants Office late Cap^t. in Col^o Campbells Reg^t. October 17^th 1797 Virginia Militia     Sir    Charles City County. City Point Post Office         In an abstract of monies advanced by Presley Nevill Paymaster General to the militia called out to suppress an insurrection that took place in the western counties of Pennsylvania in the year 1794 you stand chan- ged with money received from him pursuant to a warrant in your favor for the pay of a company in Col^o Campbells Reg^t of Virginia Militia commanded by you employed in the said expedition, and as no vouchers have hitherto been sent to this Office to exonerate you from the said advance, I have to reque[st] your immediate attention in rendering such as you actu[ally] possess or can shortly obtain, properly stated, & in case of deficien[cy] to refund the balance to the Treasurer of the United States.         I am under the necessity to be the more urgent in requesting your immediate attention to this object in conse- quence of a resolution of Congress of the 3 March last directing me to furnish an abstract of all the names of the receive[rs] of public monies unaccounted for, by the first week in Janu- ry next.         Col^o Nevill the P.M.G. has been furnished with directions to attend to the final settlement of all the accounts relative to that expedition and is to attend for th[at] purpose on the 15^th November next before which time I flatte[r] myself your account & vouchers will undergo the necessary examination at this Office and the amount paid by yo[u] passed to its proper account in the aforementioned abstrac[t] to be laid before Congress.    I am &c.                                 W^m Simmons Acc[t]
