360 M^r Thomas Poston                          Accountants Office late Exp off^r M^t Cavalry                    October 17^th 1797 Sir      Stafford County Falmouth P Office            near the KD River      In an abstract of monies advanced by Presley Nevill late Paymaster General to the Militia called out to suppress an insurrection in the western counties of Pennsylvania in the year 1794 you stand charged with money paid by him to you pursuant to a warrant in your favor for the pay of a Troop of Virginia Militia Cavalry commanded by you employed in the said expedition, and as no vouchers have hitherto been transmitted to this Office to exonerate you from this advance I have to request your immediate attention in transmitting such as you actually possess or can speedily procure, properly stated — and in case of a deficiency to refund the balance to the Treasurer of the United States.      I am under the necessity to be the more urgent in requesting your attention to this object in consequence of a Resolution of Congress of the 3^d March last directing me to furnish an Abstract by the first week in January next of the of all the receivers of public monies unaccounted for.      In rendering your accounts you will be particular in stating an account current charging the monies received and crediting the expenditures agreeably to the Pay Roll you was furnished with, also noting the receipts with corresponding numbers which are to accompany this account. A list of the sums remaining unpaid accounting any balance remaining in your hands unappropriated is also to be furnished.      Your particular attention is required to this
