I received your letters of the 30th ulto & 1 Inst. with accounts, and vouchers accompanying them which will be put under examination, and the result communited to you.
In reply to that part of your letter relating to the application of the Officers to you for the repayment of the Justices fees for administering their official oath. I have to remark that it is a claim which is altogether novel here, it is the first of the kind that has ever come within my notice, I believe few if any persons engaged in the service of the United States have ever made such a claim tho' all have to take the same oath, it is a claim which I conceive inadmissible and shall therefore reject it. I am &c.
