Art^y 25 Sep^t 1797 recd. — 26^th ans^d — 27^th — above —] William Simmons Esq^r Accountant Philadelphia Office Elizabeth Town 25^th Sep^t 1797 Sir, Yours of the 22 Inst. has just come to hand incloning my Contingent act & acct. Current with the United States, together with eleven vouchers which you say are inadmissible, & which I shall let lay untill I come to Philadelphia. I have examined the accounts & find that you have deducted twenty one Dollars & fifty eight Cents, from the amount which I made my Contingent acct. & have returned one voucher for only seventeen Dollars 35 Cents, the mistake may have been mine but that can be rectified hereafter if wrong. From the 1^st Nov^t 1796 to the 30^th June 1797 I made my subsistance acct. One hundred seventeen Dollars & 20 Cents you make it one hundred nineteen Dollars 32 Cents — the rest I find right & have sworn to the Contingent acct. which is inclosed together with the acct.
