September 25 1797 Sir I received your letter of the 6^th Instant enclosing the Muster & Pay Rolls of the Detachment under your com[mand] for July and august 1797 from which I have deducted Pay of Sergeant David Stanton he having been paid at [this] Office from the 1^st May to the 26^th August last the day of his discharge. I have added to the same eight Dollars how much short calculated in the pay of Lieutenant Rob[inson] an increase of pay being allowed Lieutenants which [took] place on the first July last. makes amount for Pay & for[age] Six hundred, eighty one Dollars, twenty nine Cents due [for the] above period which you will receive from Daniel Stevens Supervisor Charleston, on giving him the necessary recei[pts] holding yourself accountable for the due application thereof.
