Received of Lieu.t James Sterret Pay master to the 1.st Battalion of Artillerists and Engineers, six parcels of receipts denominated and marked A. B. C. D. E and F; being for payments made by the said Lieu.t Sterret, to the said first battalion, and other detachments of the Corps of Artillerists and Engineers; of pay and forage from the 1.st of October 1795 to the 1.st day of September 1797; and of subsistence from the 1.st January 1795 to 31 May 1797. Also an account Current for Twenty eight thousand eight hundred and fifty six 67/100 dollars; in which a balance of nine 13/100 dollars, is stated to be due from the United States to the said Lieu.t Sterret. Also a list of the balances stated by him to be due to certain absentees of the said Corps of Artillerists and Engineers, on the 26.th of September 1797; which papers I shall forthwith transmit to the Accountant of the department of War, agreeably to my instructions.
