[265 fo] Near Downingstown 12 Sep^t. 1797 The Frigate Constitution requiring a heavy [Inch Francis] Anchor to keep her from accidents during heavy Squalls or Gusts of wind, I beg you will be pleased to inform me, whether the one of this description that I requested you to have brought round from Portsmouth on the eastward, has yet arrived, or if not what measures have been taken for its transfer to Baltimore. Tho^s Truxtun] I have your letter of the 13 instant, but being yet indisposed and weak from the remnant of a bilious fever, I cannot be very particular in my answer. I shall take an early opportunity to converse with the President upon your Claim for Extra expences during your superintendence of the building of the Frigate, and beg you not to suppose that it will be refused, if shown with propriety to be granted, or to continue the delay it seems to have experienced into a denial of justice. It is some time since I desired M^r Francis to have brought round from Portm^o to Balt^o a heavy Anchor for the Frigate Constitution.
