Sir September 15. 1797 — With this you will perceive my muster and pay rolls for August — the last [undecipherable], I shall have to make for this command. I shall now find time to arrange my accounts as to forward a statement of Public money received, appropriated & on hand; out of the latter, I purpose to pay this garrison for the month of July, & if [undecipherable] enough in my hand, unaccounted for — for August also — this I hope will meet your approbation — Recruiting here is a dull business — out of 35 who will be entitled to their discharges before the opening of the navigation next Spring — few or none will reinlist in this country. As my company is [undecipherable] by transfer, drafts &c to 35; I expect to be ordered to the States to recruit an others, which may [undecipherable], meet the same fate.
