You will be pleased to pay to Capt[undecipherable] Littlefield out of the unappropriated monies in you[undecipherable] the sum of seven dollars for the like sum paid by him [undecipherable] account of bounty to Henry Hannaha and twenty five Cen[undecipherable] for attesting the said Hannaha & William Ryan both Recru[undecipherable] I cannot yet see any thing sufficiently satisfactory in Col Rochefontaine's certificate & Remarks on the account of expences of Findley & Cornwall to enable me to act on it. I therefore return it as well as the other papers accompany[undecipherable] it once more enclosed. If Col Rochefontaine (who must be the best Judge in such cases) will certify under his signature what he thinks would be a reasonable allowance for these men after deducting the subsistence they may have received from the Public whilst performing the service in question, the busi- ness will then be attended to. I am &c [S.] on examination, Capt McKee's Wm Simmons account of subsistence for august 1797. Acct has been found just. Kindall each for four dollars and Eliakim Raymond for two dollars which will be filed with others before received ready to be entered in your recruiting account at a future day.
