By the inclosed correspondence transmitted to me by the Sustr of State, you will see the unfortunate situation of the Contract for Guns for the Algerian Frigate. Though [strikethrough: I am willing to] I shou'd, do as the Sust desires, yet I must own to you that I put no confidence in the execution of Mr. Hughes, — in my opinion the Frigate will be detained or Guns must be provided from some other quarter.
If there are any Guns belonging to the public now in Store [strikethrough: I am of] I sincerely think they ought to be furnished, [strikethrough: they] to, to be replaced, as soon as possible.
