Kanandaigua Sir You will receive from Samuel Lewis Clerk in the War Office the sum of eight hundred and two dollars and seventy nine cents being the amount of Pay Rolls for Pay yourself and detachment from 1^st Jan^r. to 30^th June 1797 inclusive also the sum of Two hundred and eighty four do[llars] being the estimate of pay of the same detachment for the July and August 1797 for which sums you will be plea[sed] to transmit him the necessary Receipts holding you accountable. The increase of the pay of Lieutenants only [com]menced the 1 July, four dollars have accordingly been [deduc]ted from the June Pay Roll where your pay is made u[p] 30 Dollars I am &c. W^m.
