Sir
Pittsburgh 31st August 1797
I have this day enclosed to the Comptroller of the Treasury Abstracts of payments made in the Q:Master Department amounting to 36,621 Dollars — on the fifth of June last, I forwarded from Fort Washington abstracts amounting to [undecipherable] Dollars 63½ Cents. ——
I have to Say that the Clothing stationed for the [undecipherable] the Posts may be ordered on as expeditiously as Possible — the late [undecipherable] every year of the Clothing involves the Publick in a very great extraordinary Expence, for the winter sets in before the Clothing Can Reach the Post, which prevents the Publick Making use of Water Transportation.
I am Sir with Great Respect your Most Ob:t & Very Hum:l
