In pursuance of a Resolution of the House of Representatives of the 5 March 1797 I am required to lay before them within the first Week in January next an abstract of the names &c. of all those who stand charged with monies at this Office.
In order to prevent your name from appearing as a delinquent I have to request you will speedily account for the monies received by you either by producing the necessary Vouchers or refunding the balance to the Treasurer of the United States.

In compliance with the request in your letters of the 15th Ultimo & 24th Instant you will receive from Samuel Lewis Clerk in the War Office the amount due yourself and the other Officers stationed at Niagara for subsistence up to 31st July 1797 being four hundred twenty four Dollars & thirty six cents for which you will transmit him your duplicate receipts holding yourself accountable for the due applications of the same which you are to do in the following manner viz: 143.332
