You stand charged on the Books of this Office with monies received by you and which yet remain to be accounted for. —
In pursuance of a Resolution of the House of Representatives of the 3 March 1797 I am required to lay before them within the first week in January next an abstract of the names of all those who stand charged with monies at this Office.
In order to prevent your name from appearing as a delinquent I have to request you will as speedily as possible account for the monies received by you either by producing the necessary vouchers or refunding the balance to the Treasurer of the United States.
Your immediate attention to this object is particularly requested.
