Sir,
I have the pleasure to inform you that at length I have a prospect of obtaining payment for your Military services. I have mentioned to the Secretary of War your reference to the Secretary of State and he has agreed to allow whatever Colonel Pickering thinks right. I wish you to send me a copy of the Account presented and agreed to by Colonel Pickering while you were present made up however to the present time. I can order in the face of it to pay the amount to me, this will close the business.
