Sir
You stand charged on the Books of this Office with monies received by you and which ro[main] yet to be accounted for.
Pursuant to a Resolve of the Ho[use of] Representatives of 3 march 1797 I am required to lay [before] them within the first Week in January next — [an] abstract of the names &c of all receivers of public [monies] from 1 January 1791 to 1 January 1797.
In order to prevent your name [from] appearing as a delinquent I have to request you with-out delay account for the monies received either by [produ]-cing the necessary vouchers or refunding the balan[ce to] the Treasurer of the United States.
Your immediate attention [to this] object is particularly requested. —
