Isaac Guion [from] Contractor provisions had had to purchase them Received January 10. 1798 of William Simmons — accountant allwarrant N^o. 2531 for One hundred & fifty Dollars in full on account of the pay of Cap^tt. Isaac Guion D150 [signature: J. Guion?] rec^d. 26. December 1797 --- Chickasaw Bluffs @August 20^th 1797. Sir, The meat provisions furnished by the Contractors for the supply of the detachment under my command could barely be used in June last, and had by the time we reached this place become quite unwholesome and offensive: fortunately for us a man who resides here, had collected thirty four Beeves for sale, and I directed the Contractors, commissary with me, to purchase them; he did so but had not means of payment. To remedy this inconvenience, I avail myself of Them authorizing me to draw on you as mentioned in your letter of the 8^th of June last, and have done so in favour of M^r. Winter for one thousand dollars, eight hundred & fifty dollars of this sum to be charged to James O'Hara Esq^r. Contractor, and the ballance to Sir Your very Obedient & Humble Servant, I.
