Pittsburgh 17^th August 1797 Sir I arrived here on the 15^th instant from Detroit — previous to my leaving that place I drew the following bills on you viz. N° 41 in favour [undecipherable] & Park dated the 14^th July 97 at 15 days sight — for 2000 Dols N° 42 in fav. James Abbot & son dated 14^th July 1797 at 15 days sight — 100 Dols N° 43 in fav. M^rs Ann Wilkinson dated 3^d of August 1797 at 15 days sight 1000 Dols I met your letter of the 4^th instant at this place — I have furnished to General Wilkinson a General return of [undecipherable] Stores, which he has forwarded to the Secretary of war — It was incomplete because returns had not been received from many posts for a considerable time — I shall collect at this place the latest returns, & make out a general return which will be much more satisfactory — Next post I will have to forward an addition to the estimate for the present quarter, to embrace expenditures for the fortifications of Detroit & Michilimackinac — am.
