Document 1797Simmons tells Governor St. Clair that he stands charged on the books for the sum of $850.00 paid on account of the Indian Department. Simmons notes that in pursuance with a resolution of the House of Representatives made March 3, 1797, he must lay before Congress, an abstract of all who stand charged with monies at the Accountant's Office, Department of War. Simmons requests vouchers to be submitted for expenses in order to close account.
