In pursuance to a Resolution of the House of Representatives of 3 march 1797 I am required to lay before them within the first Week in January next an abstract of all those who stand charged with monies at this Office and being desirous to reduce them to as small a number as possible I have to request you will be pleased to forward immediately Vouchers (such as are admissible) for any part of the expenditure of those sums & the balance should any remain refund to the Treasurer of the United States to close your account — expecting your reply to the above shortly — I am &c
