2d instt enclosing the Muster & Pay Rolls of the Detac[hment]
under your command for July 1797 to which has be[en]
added Eight Dollars short made up on the Pay of S[gt]
Saunders & Triplett and six Dollars for forage of Surge[on]
Pattison which together with the original amount ma[ke a]
sum of Three hundred, & sixty two dollars & forty cents [which]
you will receive in the usual manner from Edwa[rd]
Carrington Esqr Supervisor at Richmond on giving hi[m]
the necessary Receipts holding yourself accounta[ble for]
the due applications of the same.
A reference has been had to yo[ur]
Recruiting accounts but the name of Charles Gil[—]
does not appear on any of them therefore cannot inf[orm]
you the date of his enlistment.
