Richard Blackburn, being for pay of himself and the Detachment at Fort Norfolk including the Forage of Surgeons mate Patteson for July 1797, for which please take his duplicate receipts in the usual manner. The money last forwarded and of which you wrote to me the 27^th Ult^o. you will appropriate as directed in my letter accompanying the[m] of the 19^th of the same months. I am &c. W^m Simmons Acc^t. Saunders' letter of [the] 2 Inst^. enclosing the Muster & Pay Rolls of the Detac[hment] under your command for July 1797 to which has be[en] added Eight Dollars short made up on the Pay of Li[eut.] Saunders & Triplett and six Dollars for Forage of Surgeon[s mate] Patteson which together with the original amount ma[kes the] sum of Three hundred, & sixty two dollars & forty cents w[hich] you will receive in the usual manner from Edwar[d] Carrington Esq^r. Supervisor at Richmond on giving hi[m] the necessary Receipts holding yourself accounta[ble for] the due applications of the same. A preference has been had to yo[ur] Recruiting accounts but the name of Charles Gil[undecipherable] does not appear on any of them therefore cannot inf[orm] you the date of his enlistment. I am &c.
