[Lieut^t Nch^s Freeman                  Accountants Office    208 J P M^c                               August 16^th 1797      West Point          Sir          I received your letter of the 8^th Inst. enclosing the Muster & Pay Roll for July 1797 of the Corps at West point amounting to One thousand twenty six dollars and forty two Cents which sum you will receive as usual from Nicholas Fish Esq^r Supervisor New York on your giving him the necess^ry receipts holding yourself accountable for the same.          The sum of Ten Dollars being for Expences & reward of Sergt Harris & Corpl Welton may be allowed them for apprehending Hough & Powers Deser^ts but it must be Stop'd out of the pay of the latter agreeably to the articles of War, you have the account for this object returned herewith enclosed. —          There are two receipts on file in this Office for expences in pursueing Powers & others desalted in 1795 both amounting to Three dollars & Ninety seven Cents. —                                                  Sam^ple                                                          H^m Simmons                                                               acct —
