[Circular.] War Office, August 15. 1797 Sir, It has been represented to me that, in many instances, Recruits have been sent from the different Rendezvous to their Regiment or Corps, who, upon examination, have appeared to be entirely disqualified, by Age or infirmities, from performing the duty required of a Soldier. I must therefore request your particular attention to the second Article of your recruiting instructions, as a deduction will be made from your Pay of all Bounty monies paid any Recruit, who, on joining the Army, shall be found not to answer the requirements contained in the said Article; unless proof shall be produced by you that his disability had occurred subsequent to his Inlistment.
