Sir
I have the pleasure to inform you that I have Arrived at the Head Quarters of my Regt with my Family, all in perfect health. Agreeable to your Directions I made a settlement with the Paymaster Genl independant of the draw back you was pleased to order. I had a ballance due of one hundred and Ninety Dollars to receive. Sir as my receipts lay at the war Office against Mr Pope & Stother, for one hundred and twenty Dollars, I will thank you to Direct a draw back at your Office from them to Satisfy or cancel those Rects as I shall inevitably loose the Money if it is not Stopt in that way, as they are at Such a Distance from me that I cannot get at them - I have a large Family of Children to get bread for & I cannot afford to lose it - I will also thank you to Direct your Clerk to enclose me a receipt Signed by an Indian and Witnessed by a White Person for the ten Dollars I gave for endeavouring to Detect a Deserter, which also lays in the Office, Sent by Major Swan. I am sorry to give you this trouble. Should you think it consistent to interfere in my behalf Shall think myself under great obligations -
I am with the Greatest
Respect & Esteem
Your Most Obt Servt,
Thos Hunt Major
