Sir,
You stand charged on the Books of this Office with monies received by you and which yet remain to be accounted for.
In pursuance of a Resolution of the House of Representatives of 3d March 1797, I am requested to lay before them within the first Week in January next an abstract of the names of all receivers of Public money from 1st January 1791 to 1st January 1797.
In order to prevent your name from appearing as a delinquent I have to request you will without delay account for the monies you received either by producing the necessary vouchers or refunding the balance to the Treasurer of the United States
Your attention to this object is particularly requested as early as possible. —
